Meet Corrine

I got his habit of giving names to my stuff that means a lot to me. From my guitars to my computers and other gadgets that I bought. After my iPod “G” and “Eleanor” (C2Q) desktop last June 28, 2009 we purchased a Compaq CQ40-340TU from Asianic, SM North EDSA Annex branch. I was just planning to get the CQ40-108TU which was on sale at that time. Unfortunately the last laptop was sold out because it only cost 19,995.00PHP on Silicon Valley, SM North EDSA. They told me to go to Robinson’s Pioneer to check if they still have it available. This is a dual core laptop with 2Ghz processor that is more than enough to get the job done for my freelance work. They’ve sold 6 units when I got there and the last piece will be sold on a cheaper price since it has a small crack on the battery case. The store manager or whatever they call him left Silicon Valley Robinson’s Pioneer left without giving them instructions on how much they would sell it. So there, I looked around and found this nifty Compaq laptop from Villman. They also said that they are taking 3,500PHP off from the original price and the unit comes with a free Vista Starter disc and a Globe Prepaid Broadband Tattoo for 29,948.00 PHP :| We browsed for more shops and found a better deal from Asianic, same laptop for a cheaper price (comes with the same package as Villman’s) with a free 1Gb memory upgrade.

I think it’s Compaq’s promo for this old model laptop. Octagon and Villman is a no go for gadget shopping unless you need something on the spot. A little walk around different shops can save you up to 3K for your efforts.

Here’s the catch: Vista and Globe’s prepaid broadband must be claimed from the nearest HP center in your area. Another thing is that they are out of stock! You must bring them a photocopy of your receipt and scrape the serial number of the laptop from the box and give it to them for reservations. Take note that there are three stickers on the box. They gave specific instructions to get the one on the middle. No requirements/ no freebies policy. They gave me an estimate of 3 weeks before the shipment arrives.

Anyway here are the the specs:

• Intel Pentium Dual Core Processor T4200
- 2.0GHz, 1MB L2 Cache, 800MHz FSB
• Mobile Intel GL40 Express Chipset
• 1GB x 1 DDR2 SODIMM Memory (plus 1GB memory upgrade)
